  • A psychiatric evaluation involves obtaining a thorough account of someone’s current and past psychiatric history including diagnoses and various treatments as well as medical, employment, education, social, and family histories.

A comprehensive evaluation may not be necessary for every consultation but is almost always recommended in order to provide the most accurate guidance.

  • Consultative guidance for:

    • Psychiatric diagnosis (initial or second opinion)

    • Medication and psychotherapy

    • Interventional Psychiatry

      • Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), ketamine (IV, intranasal, or intramuscular), vagal nerve stimulation, ECT.

    • Nutrition and health

    • Genetic and other psychiatric tests

  • Determining treatment complexity isn’t always easy. Less complex cases tend to involve a small and consistent number of psychiatric diagnoses, history of psychiatric outpatient care (no inpatient or partial hospitalizations), and/or a lower number medication trials or other psychiatric interventions.

More complex cases may involve a larger number or inconsistent diagnoses over time, outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care, serious co-occurring medical conditions, and/or a multitude of past treatments (3+ medication trials and interventional psychiatry like TMS, ketamine, or ECT).
